Area Guide for Pershore

Pershore is a thriving market town situated on the River Avon.  This historic Georgian town is approximately 10 miles south east of Worcester city centre with Evesham to the east and Upton-upon-Severn to the West.

The town is best known for its Anglo Saxon Abbey and its famous agricultural college.

Pershore offers a wide range of amenities including the No 8 Theatre, Cinema and Arts Centre and excellent local shopping. The town has been designated as a place of major architectural importance boasting many listed buildings and offers a wide range or styles and ages of property from new build developments, to 16th Century Bridge Street.

The nearest motorways to Pershore is the M5 (Junction 7) or M50 (Junction 1).  These both enable easy access to the wider motorway network.  Birmingham International Airport is approximately one hour by road via the M5/M42 motorways. There is a main line railway station at Pinvin, which is to the north of the town centre, enabling direct travel to London Paddington.

The popular villages of Wyre Piddle and Lower Moor are close to the railway station. Also to the north of Pershore are the villages of Throckmorton, Bishampton and The Lenches.  This is the collective name for the villages of Church Lench, Rous Lench, Atch Lench, Sheriffs Lench and Ab Lench.

To the south of Pershore sits the village of Eckington, a popular family choice.  Defford and Birlingham lie close by and whilst smaller, have a charm and desirability of their own. Further south is the large town of Tewkesbury which allows access onto the Cotswolds and the regency town of Cheltenham.

To the east of Pershore, there are a number of smaller villages including Pensham, Wick, Elmley Castle, Cropthorne, Charlton and Fladbury.

Drakes Broughton and Peopleton are well placed for the commuter being on the Worcester side of Pershore and only 4 miles from the M5 Motorway.

Due to its exceptionally fertile soil, market gardening is carried out on a commercial scale in the surrounding area, known as the Vale of Evesham and The Pershore Plum Festival is held annually in August to celebrate the local varieties of plum.

Pershore and its surrounding areas have much to offer.
