Affordable Housing

This lovely Pershore home, one of our three featured properties, is available under the affordable housing scheme.  What eligibility is required to be considered as an applicant?

This lovely home is being sold as a ‘discounted market sale’ at 75% of its full open market value under the affordable housing scheme.

Affordable housing is provided to meet the needs of those who are unable to buy or rent housing generally on the open market. In Worcester this normally takes the form of social rented, affordable rented (up to 80% of market value) or shared ownership provided by a Housing Association.

Worcester City Council is working in partnership with Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils on the South Worcestershire Delivery Plan to identify where new housing should be located and how much should be affordable.  It is provided in partnership with external housing providers such as Housing Associations.  They also work with developers which are required to make a percentage of all large developments available as affordable housing.

Home Choice Plus has been developed by a number of Local Authorities and Housing Associations working in partnership. This is a way of looking for and allocating affordable housing and other options such as private rents and intermediate rents across the Local Authority areas.

Applicants must demonstrate that they unable to afford to buy a suitable property in the local area at its full open market value. They must also have a local connection to the area and have an active application on the local housing register. Click Here.
