Ahead of Our Photographer's Visit

It will be prospective buyers’ first glimpse of your home so it is crucial we take photographs that reflect it looking its best. The main message is de-clutter and tidy both the inside and the outside of your property. We asked our photographer for some suggestions.

We asked our photographer for some suggestions, in his experience, on what will help capture a property at its full potential.

First impressions count! Good photographs will encourage people to book a viewing.

 The Outside:

 Please could you if necessary:

• Remove cars off the driveway and park them away from the front of the property. If there is any likelihood of rain please do this well before his visit so there isn’t a dry patch evident where the car has been.
• Remove wheelie bins, recycling boxes etc.
• Ensure the garden looks tidy. It will look better if the lawn is mowed and hedges trimmed.
• Remove the clothes line if practical.
• Ensure any planted pots look garden centre fresh.
• Roll away the hose pipe and put away garden tools.
• Put away or store in a corner where they can be omitted from shot, if possible, children’s equipment. Obviously not swings, slides, trampolines etc but smaller items like balls, racquets, bikes etc.

 The Inside:

• Open all window blinds/curtains.
• The house needs to look like a home so pictures, ornaments, kitchen equipment are fine but in moderation!
• Store away piles of books, papers, clothes, toys etc.
• Remove fridge magnets.
• Avoid bags/boxes on top of cupboards or wardrobes
• Remove all toilet cleaners, bleach containers and any excess of bottles/jars from bathrooms and WCs
• Ensure all surfaces, particularly any showers, are dry
(the camera flash will reflect off every water droplet)
• Please ensure that all lights are working and any blown bulbs replaced

If you need somewhere to put things, generally the smallest bedroom (3 bedroom house or larger), utility room, cloakroom and garage will not be photographed.
