Katie Chesterman, Head of Property Management explains the recent Immigration Act change. Don’t worry, Katie’s team are on hand to ensure compliance, on your behalf.

"Landlords and tenants across the UK may have already noted the recent changes in legislation regarding tenants and their right to reside in the UK. The new legislation puts pressure on landlords to ensure that thorough checks on prospective tenants are being carried out, before agreeing a tenancy with them. Tenants with a non-EU passport and who therefore require a visa, will have to provide proof of their right to reside in the UK to their Landlords.

At Andrew Grant, we take care to ensure that all checks are completed thoroughly on behalf of our landlords and we will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to ensure compliance with this legislation. Our referencing process has been adapted in accordance with the changes and where tenants are not in possession of an EU passport, they will be asked to kindly provide a valid Visa. We will also make relevant enquiries at the Home Office, if issues occur, ensuring peace of mind for our landlords.
If you have any questions relating to this legislation or referencing process, please do not hesitate to contact our property management team on 01905 734792."
