CLA Big Breakfast Friday 17th June 2016

The CLA (Country Land and Business Association) held their annual Big Breakfast on the opening day of the Three Counties Show last Friday.

The member’s marquee on the Three Counties Showground was filled to maximum capacity for such an event with some 250 people attending. From a small beginning ten years ago with some 30 people attending the Big Breakfast it has now become a major CLA event.

There were two further speakers namely Allan Wilkinson, HSBC, Head of Agriculture UK who came with local knowledge of the Midlands. He joined HSBC bank in 1988 as an Agricultural Banking Manager in Shropshire and Herefordshire. He has held a number of senior leadership posts in HSBC’s retail and commercial network in northern England before taking up his present position. It was a most enlightening talk on the future of agriculture.

Ross Murray, the CLA President gave a very positive and upbeat talk for the farming industry, agricultural volatility, the CLAs conception of the Referendum and a tribute to those in public service.
