Malvern Festivals and Events

There’s an action packed summer of events in Malvern and its surrounding areas. With something to suit all tastes from music to motor racing - we look at some of the things on offer…

The Malvern Walking Festival offers 9 days of themed walking in wonderful Elgar countryside. It runs from the 28th May – 5th June. The walks offer something for everyone from an evening stroll to a challenging 60 mile hike over 6 days. For more information and to book a walk please click here 

The Great Malvern Food Festival will take place in the grounds of Great Malvern Priory Church on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May. Over 60 stalls of locally produced food, drink and crafts. The Malvern Munch! Food Walk is on Sunday 29th May. An enjoyable 7 mile walk over and around the Malvern Hills that offers walkers the chance to taste great local food and drink whilst listening to live music at stops along the way. Tickets are available from Malvern Hills Tourist Information Centre in Church Street, Malvern. 

For motoring enthusiasts why not visit The Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb at Shelsley Walsh, Worcestershire, organised by the Midland Automobile Club (MAC). It is one of the oldest motorsport events in the world, and is in fact the oldest to have been staged continuously (wartime excepted) on its original course, first having been run in 1905. One of the highlights of the summer is the Royal Three Counties Show which runs from 17th-19th June. The show is England’s largest livestock and equine show and, the only place to see The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery outside of London. For more information please click here

Tenbury Music Festival is on 18th Jun 2016 at The Burgage Recreation Ground, Tenbury Wells. It offers 12 hours of live music in a festival atmosphere with The Steve Gibbons band, Robbie Blunt band, Quill with Bev Bevan(ELO) headlining this year. 

Upton on Severn hosts its annual Jazz Festival on the 23rd-26th June Upton Jazz Festival. It promises a weekend of jazz, fun and good company, with Jazz, Swing and Dance - 60+ concerts over 4 days, in two main areas of town. 

How about visiting Ledbury, named by The Sunday Times as the best place to live in the Midlands. It’s annual Poetry Festival, now in its 18th year, takes place over ten days from 1st – 10 July. It features poets from all over the world and is the biggest and best poetry festival in the UK. 

Again in Upton on the 15th-17th July is its Blues Festival which last year, following independent research, revealed the event contributes just over £800K to the local economy. 

The Three Choirs Festival, the oldest non-competitive classical music festival in the world, runs from the 23rd-30th July and is a week-long programme of choral and orchestral concerts, cathedral services, solo and chamber music recitals, masterclasses, talks, theatre, exhibitions and walks, rotating each summer between the beautiful English cathedral cities of Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester.
