Queen’s Award Presentation Thursday 16th June 2016

The Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Holcroft LVO OBE is anxious to attract successful businesses to apply for Queen’s Awards. He appointed his Deputy Andrew Grant as his representative with a request to form a Committee. 

A Queen’s Award Presentation was held at DRP Group, Hartlebury hosted by Dale and Richard Parmenter last Thursday 16th June 2016. Drinks and canapes were provided by the DRP Group which made a very convivial event. It is understood that DRP Group will be applying for a Queen’s Award for which we wish them every success. 

The Deputy Lieutenant Andrew Grant formed a Committee to find and attract suitable applicants for Queen’s Awards. The Committee consists of Cecil Duckworth, founder of Worcester Bosch and founder of Worcester Warriors, Mike Ashton, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Chamber of Commerce who received the British Chamber Of Commerce Award in 2013 for Best Chamber, Philip Dutton, founder of a new branch for Handelsbanken bringing back traditional banking, Louise Hewett, founder of her own business Louise Hewett Recruitment employing some 400 people, she is a fellow of the University of Worcester and won the Worcestershire Business Woman Of The Year, Clare Marchant, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire County Council, has access to many businesses and has determination for World Class Worcestershire. She ‘flies the flag for Worcestershire’.

A presentation was given by Sean Kelly from the Department of Business Innovation and Skills together with previous Award winners namely Angela Davis from Postcode Anywhere (two Awards) and Paul Walker from Malvern Instruments (seven Awards).

This year there were four Queen’s Awards in Worcestershire given to Orchard Valley Foods Limited, Winstead Limited, Postcode Anywhere (Europe) Limited T/A PCA Predict and Greenlighting Limited. Previously Queen’s Awards were received by Postcode Anywhere and GTech. 

The evening was attended by some 70 people representing many of the captains of industry in Worcestershire including Steve Smith founder of Poundland who last week attended a meeting at 10 Downing Street.  There were also previous Award winners, winners of Awards from The Chamber of Commerce and potential companies seeking Queen’s Awards.
