Redevelopment for Kidderminster

Kidderminster has recently benefitted from both public and private sector investment which has seen the completion of the Riverside development, the Hoobrook link road and the Wyre Forest Leisure Centre. It has now been announced that the town’s railway station will be extended and improved.

It has been announced that Kidderminster Station is to undergo a £4.3 million redevelopment which will funded by Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

The station, which is on a key commuter route into Birmingham, will have a dramatic glass-front that will be twice the size of the existing building. Facilities will include a new café, toilets and indoor seating and waiting areas. Other planned work, close to the station, includes improvements to nearby bus facilities and a pedestrian crossing on Comberton Hill.

The station was used by 1.6 million people last year, with numbers predicted to rise 50 per cent within five years, and is the second busiest train station in the county and a major gateway into the Wyre Forest and beyond.

The new station is expected to be completed summer 2019.

Kidderminster and its surrounding areas are a great place to live!
