Shakespearean Summer in Stratford

Some 400 years since his death in April 1616 Stratford-upon-Avon has been celebrating the Bard’s 400 year old legacy. Here’s a taste of some of the forthcoming events to be held over the summer in our historic town…

From 28 May - 05 June 2016 at Mary Arden's Farm there are daily traditional sheep shearing and craft demonstrations. You can try your hand at woolly crafts and each day there’ll be a different activity.

On 11th June there’s a royal garden party in the walled garden at Hall’s Croft to celebrate the Queen’s official 90th birthday. You can take your own picinic or enjoy the BBQ, corgi shaped cookies, strawberries and cream. There’s a cake competition where the most creative royal design will win a five house family pass to the Shakespeare houses for a whole year.

Again at Mary Arden's Farm on 25th and 26th June there’s a chance to see the Tudors celebrate the longest day of the year. There are circus skills to be learnt, puppet shows and face painting.

On the 2 + 3 July it’s eighth Stratford River Festival with two days of celebrations along the Avon. Since it was established the event has grown to become one of the region’s leading free festivals and last year nearly 60,000 revellers packed into the town.

Why not pack up your picnic basket and join in the picnic in the beautiful gardens at Anne Hathaway's Cottage on 23rd July? There’s free musical entertainment and activities for all the family. Normal admission applies and tickets are valid for 12 months, so you can really make the most of the summer holidays with free return visits.
