Stourbridge Market

Our local newspaper The Stourbridge News has recently conducted a poll as to whether the public would support proposals to introduce a weekly market in the town centre. Their readers showed “overwhelming” support for the venture with 91% of voters backing the proposal.

Enville company LSD Promotions has proposals to apply for a licence from Dudley Council to hold a trial market on Thursdays from April to December, and has been holding both a business and public consultation on the plans and are awaiting their decision.

A number of traders in the town centre have asked LSD for more details of the market plans before they make a collective decision on whether they support the proposals or not.

Stourbridge MP Margot James has backed the plans and, along with town councillors Steve Clark and Nic Barlow, met representatives from LSD Promotions to hear more about their proposal. She was encouraged that both LSD’s survey of high street businesses and the online poll showed support for the venture. She thought it would be a great addition to Stourbridge and would attract people from across the region to the town which would benefit local businesses.

Stourbridge shoppers that were approached by the newspaper also welcomed the idea of a weekly market in the town again.

Stourbridge already has a twice monthly market which takes place every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. The Farmers and Craft market sells home made, home grown, home baked and unique and unusual art and craft items.
