Three Million Possibilities

It is generally thought that the property market goes very quiet around the Christmas period, but with emergence of property portals such as Rightmove and On The Market, and the ease of access through tablets and mobile phones, it is perhaps not surprising to learn that one of the busiest times for Rightmove is in the period between Christmas Day and New Year.  Last year on one day alone, 3 million properties were looked at! It therefore makes sense not to hold off marketing until the Spring, but to try to take advantage of this hike in people who may be looking.
What sort of year has it been? The property market has gradually accelerated since the General Election, and properties which have come on the market have generally sold quickly. The problem has been a lack of property coming to the market, and this shortage, should see property prices rising again.
Mortgage rates are at their lowest ever, and this is reflected in Nationwide’s recently reported profits.
What will 2016 have in store?  All the pundits are suggesting a relatively flat year for house selling, and an increase in the number of people renting.
