We’ve Inspired a Novel!

Little did Julia Simonds, manager at Andrew Grant Bromsgrove, know that a conversation about one very special property would inspire award winning author Veronica Henry’s latest book.

Julia Simonds, manager at Andrew Grant Bromsgrove, explains how a home she sold inspired the title of bestselling former Worcestershire author, Veronica Henry’s latest novel “The Forever House”.  It will, in the words of an estate agent – be “open for viewing” later this month!

“I remember selling the most wonderful property that hadn’t been on the market for over a hundred years.  The rooms were light and beautifully proportioned, the location stunning and it even had its very own camomile lawn!  Although of slightly faded elegance it had the most wonderful feel and was totally enchanting.  It had belonged to the vendor’s parents and she had lived in it all her life.  Being pragmatic she knew it was time to move.  Her lifetime home, of over 90 years, needed new owners that, in her words, would “love, care and enjoy it as much as she had.”

“The couple who eventually bought it had been looking for a home for a long, long time.  They had viewed dozens of houses in their search for the perfect property where they could raise their children and create years of memories under one roof. The home, that even after their family had flown the nest, would want to come back and visit.  The buyers described it as a “forever house”.  It made my heart sing that that this fabulous, cherished forever home was destined to stay that way with its new custodians.  The vendor was delighted and the buyers over the moon. “

Award-winning novelist Veronica Henry used to work on The Archers before becoming a television script writer.

She is now a full time novelist, living in Devon.

"I’ve known Julia for many years. As soon as she told me about the ‘forever house’, I knew I had the title of my next book: the story of a family having to sell their beloved home. I’m very grateful to Julia for the inspiration."

Please go on to the Andrew Grant website and find the home that would be your personal Forever House - tell us why, use the #TheForeverHouse and tweet it to us.
