The town made its pile from carpet making, in the 1950’s there were over thirty manufacturers in the town. There’s now a museum showing the industry’s history as well as some beautiful design examples.

The beautiful Victorian town hall has echoed to the sound of speeches from some of history’s most recognisable figures, including Stanley Baldwin – although now the venue for visiting bands and concerts.
Steam trains still run along the Severn Valley Railway making an enchanting sight (and sound) and the town has a railway museum.
And, just down the road in Bewdley is West Midland Safari Park which opened in spring 1973, and is still as popular today - holding over 165 species of exotic animals and a small theme park with many other seasonal events.
