Why the smart commuter is heading for Bromsgrove

Time, disposable income, and quality of life - don't we all just wish for more?

Your new year resolutions, if you were brave enough to make them, probably aimed for an improvement in at least one of those areas of life. A key factor in our happiness is satisfaction in our work/life balance, and choosing the right location for your home can help to tip the scales in your favour.

A recent study of the best commuter town around Britain’s major cities named Bromsgrove as the top hotspot for Birmingham, thanks to the combined factors of a short rail journey of 26 minutes, affordable station parking, and strong property price growth.

Property in the area has increased in value by 25% over the past five years, with 2018’s growth outstripping the national average. The average property sold in the town last year at just over £232k, with semi- and detached family homes dominating the market.

Perhaps reflecting the influx of professionals, residents enjoy the highest average earnings in the West Midlands, and in 2017 Bromsgrove saw the biggest increase in business start-ups in the country.

Julia Simonds, manager of Andrew Grant Bromsgrove, comments

“I’ve been an estate agent for over 30 years, for the last 16 of those in Bromsgrove.  In that period I’ve often moved the same buyers several times as their families have grown and it’s noticeable that once people move to Bromsgrove, they stay.

“The town has changed hugely in recent years to reflect the increasingly prosperous population; we now host a weekly farmers market and have an impressive choice of restaurants and bars.  Maybe this combined with our very central location  - although still with a rural ‘good life’ setting - and the new £24 million railway station, plus our excellent motorway connections, is why we are seeing an influx of buyers.”

The area offers a wide range of property, from period country cottages to urban new-builds. Take a look at some of the properties currently on the market with Andrew Grant Bromsgrove:

Norris Close

This stylish 4 bed property is on the market at a guide price of £550,000, and is ideal for young families, in a sought after area of the town.

Blackwood Road

Just half a mile from the town centre and in a popular development this 2 bed property with a large garden, on the market at £227,500, is exactly what draws new buyers to the area.
