A recent study of the best commuter town around Britain’s major cities named Bromsgrove as the top hotspot for Birmingham, thanks to the combined factors of a short rail journey of 26 minutes, affordable station parking, and strong property price growth.

Property in the area has increased in value by 25% over the past five years, with 2018’s growth outstripping the national average. The average property sold in the town last year at just over £232k, with semi- and detached family homes dominating the market.

Perhaps reflecting the influx of professionals, residents enjoy the highest average earnings in the West Midlands, and in 2017 Bromsgrove saw the biggest increase in business start-ups in the country.

“I’ve been an estate agent for over 30 years, for the last 16 of those in Bromsgrove.  In that period I’ve often moved the same buyers several times as their families have grown and it’s noticeable that once people move to Bromsgrove, they stay.

 “The town has changed hugely in recent years to reflect the increasingly prosperous population; we now host a weekly farmers market and have an impressive choice of restaurants and bars.  Maybe this combined with our very central location  - although still with a rural ‘good life’ setting - and the new £24 million railway station, plus our excellent motorway connections, is why we are seeing an influx of buyers.”
